A documentary about Jini Dellaccio, one of the first local rock photographers, is currently being filmed and is in need of additional funding before the film is finished.
The legendary 93-year-old rock photographer is known for her striking photos of Neil Young, the Sonics, the Who and other iconic artists of the 1960s and 70s. Many massive prints of her photos are on display at the Crocodile.
The film is being headed by Karen Whitehead, a UK documentary director who has teamed up with local filmmaker John Jeffcoat to document Dellaccio’s career. Jeffcoat is best known for the film Outsourced, which was adapted to a NBC sitcom, and the series of Amplified documentaries that were released last month as part of MTV’s $5 Cover: Seattle.
You can learn more about the film, as well as make a donation towards its creation, over at its Kickstarter page. The page also includes a trailer-type clip about the project which unfortunately I can’t get to embed properly here. So far the documentary has received $1,555 in donations. It needs $15,000 before 12 p.m. EST Jan. 31 to be fully funded.
