PHOTOS: My Goodness at the High Dive

Sometimes you instantly like a band the minute they plug in and play their first note.  That’s what happened to me when My Goodness took the stage at Guerrilla Candy’s Launch Party last weekend.

Sure I booked the show so there was a pretty good chance I was going to end up liking My Goodness regardless, but prior to their set at the High Dive my only experience with the band was listening to a few songs they have posted on their MySpace. Throughout the band’s set I was more or less standing in awe of how amazingly good they are and thinking about great it’s going to be to have a full-length album from this band soon.

My Goodness is a blues duo which means it’s easy to compare them to other bluesy two-piece bands so think early White Stripes without the excessive guitar solos or the Black Keys without all that polished roughness around the edges and you’re getting there. And while I am taking the easy and simple way out in my description of their sound, there’s nothing easy and simple about My Goodness. Expect to be hearing a lot more about them down the road.

But don’t take my word for how awesome My Goodness are, go check them out yourself. My Goodness is releasing its debut album April 5 and will be performing a free show at the Rendezvous to celebrate on April 8. I highly recommend you attend and if you aren’t blown away by these guys I will personally refund your cover charge.
