Bumbershoot is right around the corner which means soon you’ll be enjoying Labor Day weekend sunshine at Seattle Center while soaking in three days of great live music, comedy and art performances. And since Bumbershoot is right around the corner that means Guerrilla Candy’s FunOfficial Bumbershoot Kickoff Party is also on its way.
Putting together the FunOfficial Bumbershoot Kickoff Party has been one of my favorite things to do the past couple of years and I’m very excited about this year’s show. For me Bumbershoot is about celebrating the diversity of the local music scene and discovering new artists and I attempt book a lineup each year that reflects that sentiment.
Past years have featured sets by Sol, Grynch, Curtains for You, the Redwood Plan, Kay Kay and his Weathered Underground and the debut of Victor Shade. There have also been appearances by Brent Amaker, Macklemore and the Blue Scholars’ Geologic at past shows so there’s no telling what is going to happen at the third annual official Bumbershoot prefunk.
This year’s FunOfficial Bumberhoot Kickoff Party will be happening Sept. 2 at the High Dive and it features a lineup of four up-and-coming local artists that you should be familiar with if you’re a regular Guerrilla Candy reader. I can’t reveal the headliner just yet (billed as Special Guests below), but I’m so excited for this show that I got the green light to share most of the details today.
