It’s been an interesting past few years for Fitz and the Tantrums. Seems like just yesterday they were a small band playing the Crocodile that seemed on the cusp of being on the rise. Nowadays the band have become big-time festival mainstays with a slot at KeyArena opening for Hall & Oates at last year’s Bumbershoot and this year they will be headlining a day of the Capitol Hill Block Party.
Another sign of how far they’ve come is that the group’s debut, Pickin’ Up the Pieces (stream it here for free), was recorded in the living room of singer Michael Fitzpatrick’s living room. Now the group is currently hard at work in the studio with producer Tony Hoffer (Beck, Depeche Mode, The Temper Trap) fixing up their sophomore full-length album.
The group recently dropped a free EP that contains a remix of the group’s hit “Breakin’ The Chains of Love” that you can download for free by entering your email address below. If that’s not enough Fitz and the Tantrums for ya you can check them out at Capitol Hill Block Party July 20 where you’re likely to hear some of their new material.
