Alessandra Rose is the sleeper hit of the year

Back in April I wrote the following about Alessandra Rose:

“Her press materials describe her as hybrid of Bjork and Cat Power with some Robert Smith thrown in but her talents are so much more than that high praise. Her voice is truly magnificent and shows plenty of potential for a stellar solo career .. she has a sleeper pick for local album of the year on her hands.”

I wrote those words prior to hearing her upcoming album — which will be her fist solo record and a record I have yet to hear because it won’t be released until next month — but I still stand by those words. Check out the clips below to hear why I was instantly won over by Alessandra Rose the first time I heard her voice, then on Sept. 8 head on over to The Tractor for her record release party which will also feature Guerrilla Candy favorites Smokey Brights and Jason Dodson of The Maldives (9:30 p.m., $10) so you can pick yourself up a copy of what’s sure to be the sleeper hit of the year.
