Barsuk to celebrate 15 years of records with a 4-day party

Barsuk

Sub Pop Records isn’t the only local label celebrating an anniversary this year. Barsuk, the other little local label that could, is also marking a milestone in 2013.

The label turns 15 this year and the Barsukians are doing some pretty cool things to celebrate. First, there’s going to be plenty of Barsuk action at this year’s Bumbershoot including Death Cab for Cutie performing their Barsuk swan song Transatlanticism in full. There will also be a panel with some Barsuk label folks talking about 15 years of Barsuk records as well as performances from lots of Barsuk artists throughout the weekend including Ra Ra Riot, David Bazan, Mates of States and others. And while that is cool, that isn’t the coolest thing Barsuk is doing this year.

Barsuk is having a 15-year anniversary party that will last four nights and stretch across multiple venues throughout Seattle later this year. The four-night party is a string of shows that will take place Nov. 7-10 at Showbox at the Market, Neptune Theatre,Neumos/Barboza, and The Tractor Tavern. The lineup for the shows have yet to be announced but it is known that they will feature both current and former Barsuk artists so let the lineup speculation begin.

Barsuk doesn’t have a massive roster, but the label has featured some pretty noteworthy names and anniversary celebrations like these always seem to feature one or two really cool shows. So could we see Rilo Kiley reunite (not likely)? Perhaps a Harvey Danger reunion (more likely to happen). Or maybe Death Cab will play the Showbox again (most likely).

There’s no word on when individual tickets for the shows will go on sale, but if you really, really want to go to these shows you can scoop up a very limited early-bird wristband. Only 50 of the wristbands will be available and they go on sale at 12 p.m. on June 18. You can get your wristband here.

Aside from having access to all shows with the wristband you also get a complete set of signed and numbered anniversary show screenprints  as well as a free round-trip car ride to each venue from Uber.  Also, all of Barsuk’s net proceeds from wristband sales and from all other anniversary ticket sales will be donated to Gilda’s Club Seattle.
