Pearl Jam will play a series of stadium shows in North America this summer, including two dates at Safeco Field Aug. 8 and 10.
The band has not officially announced the string of shows, but it has been confirmed by multiple sources. The other shows include concerts in Montana on Aug. 13, Chicago on Aug. 18 and 20 and Boston Sept. 2 and 4. The Montana show is reportedly a benefit for Senator John Tester, who is a close friend of the band.
The Safeco Field concerts will be the band’s first home show in nearly five years and mark the first time they will perform at Safeco Field. The group has been outspoken about its dislike of playing concerts at KeyArena, one of the only local venues large enough to host a band of Pearl Jam’s stature. And the band’s management is partnering with the Oak View Group, which is working on a renovation for KeyArena.
Pearl Jam reportedly decided to play at Safeco Field after attending Tom Petty and the Heartbreaker’s concert at the stadium last year and liking the venue’s sound. The two shows will reportedly be called “The Home Shows” and benefit area homeless shelters and other charitable causes.
It’s Jon Tester, not Jeff Tester.
