My Goodness scoring silent film at SIFF

The Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) is happening this month and as is par for the course for the annual event there are several excellent music-related films and events happening.

One of those events is a screening of the 1911 Italian silent film “L’Inferno” which will feature an original score performed live by Guerrilla Candy favorites My Goodness.

Here’s a description of “L’Inferno” from SIFF’s website:

“Filmed over the course of three years and released in 1911, the first feature film of Italian Cinema was inspired by Dante Alighieri’s “Divine Comedy” and the artwork of Gustav Doré. It begins with Dante and Virgil as they embark a ghoulish, sometimes fetishistic trip through Hell, visiting the poor tortured souls therein, witnessing their punishments, and on occasion hearing the stories of the lives they once had that lead them to eternal damnation. Utilizing gloriously baroque sets, copious nudity, and awe-inspiring Mélièsian special effects, the film stunned audiences and became an international sensation.”

The screening and performance will happen May 31 at the Triple Door. Tickets cost $25 and can be purchased here.
