Guerrilla Candy’s Top 10 local albums of 2018

Brandi Carlile

The Seattle Times released its list of the Top 20 local albums of 2018 today..

Topping the list is former Sound Off! R&B artist Parisalexa with her EPs “Bloom” and “FLEXA.” Also making the cut were Guerrilla Candy favorites like Thunderpussy, Mudhoney, Brandi Carlile, the Moodoggies and more.

To determine the top local albums of the year the Times polled 19 local music writers, journalist, critics, DJs, industry pundits and others involved in the local music community. I was flattered and a little tickled to be asked to contribute a ballot. My ballot is below and it makes me very happy that 9 out of 10 of my choices made the Top 20 (why no love for The Moondoggies fellow music pals?).

1. Mudhoney “Digital Garbage”
2. Moondoggies “A Love Sleeps Deep”
3. Thunderpussy “Thunderpussy”
4. Jenn Champion “Single Rider”
5. Knife Knights “1 Time Mirage”
6. Sloucher “Be True”
7. Damien Jurado “The Horizon Just Laughed”
8. Brandi Carlile “By the Way, I Forgive You”
9. Wimps “Garbage People”
10. Naked Giants “Sluff”

You can see the ballots of my friends, colleagues and other local  music industry folks over here, which I highly recommend checking out because there are so many great local artists to enjoy. And congratulations to Parisalexa on an outstanding accolade during what was a great year for local music.
