Singles soundtrack to be celebrated at the High Dive

The soundtrack to Cameron Crowe’s 1992 film ‘Singles’ is arguably one of the best musical encapsulations of what became known as the Seattle grunge scene. Featuring Soundgarden, Mudhoney, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Heart (in the form of The Lovemongers), Screaming Trees, Jimi Hendrix and a Chris Cornell solo track, it became a seminal Seattle album immediately upon its release.

The soundtrack didn’t launch the careers of any of these artists. Everyone on the soundtrack were already stars in their own rights prior to the film’s release. But the soundtrack did cement these musicians as important cultural figures who were shaping rock music for a generation, not flavor-of-the-month fads.

The artists on the Singles soundtrack inspired countless aspiring musicians and some of those who were influenced by the Seattle sound of the 90s will be paying tribute to the soundtrack at the High Dive Oct. 13 during The Singles Soundtrack Experience Live. The show will feature local group Rain Light Fade performing the soundtrack in its entirety as well as Superfekta, which is celebrating 24 years as a band.

Along with those two bands there will be several guest appearances including Glann Cannon from Glenn Cannon and The Damage Done, Pearl Jam tribute act Washed in Black, Aisha and Kathy Moore from Soundgarden tribute act Bleedtogether and more.

Tickets for the event, which is being held to benefit MusiCares, cost $15 and can be purchased through the High Dive website.
