Edmonds College to offer Grunge 101 course

Here’s something for all you cob nobblers wearing wack slacks who are always swingin’ on the flippity-flop, Edmonds College is offering a couse on grunge this fall.

The class is being offered as part of the college’s community education courses. It’s a four-hour course, spread across two two-hour Monday night sessions and is being taught by Jeffery Lageson. The college’s bio of Lageson says he is “a lifelong gamer and creator” who teaches roll-playing games to school groups and adults.

The course description reads as follows:

In the fall of 1991 the “Seattle Scene” or “Grunge Scene” hit the top of the charts and changed the rock music scene forever. Nirvana, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam all released classic records in the same few weeks as Metallica, Guns ‘n Roses, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, joining them as platinum selling acts and putting grunge into a permanent place in the pop culture and fabric of the era. How did we get there? What was that period of time like? What was the result and legacy?

The two-day course costs $59. Registration is currently open. And now that you know Grunge 101 exists, you can stop being a bloated, bound-and-hagged lamestain and do something with your life by registering for college.
