Sub Pop signs The Gits, will reissue band’s catalog

In news that a match made in Seattle 1990s heaven only a few decades late, seminal local label of lamestains and losers, Sub Pop, have signed local powerhouse punks The Gits.

The label is reissuing the band’s entire catalog digitally and will release a physical reissue of their debut album “Frenching the Bully” on Jan. 31, 2025. That record, along with the other three Gits albums — “Enter: The Conquering Chicken,” “Seafish Louisville” and “Kings & Queens” — have been remastered by Jack Endino, been given new artwork by Sub Pop art director Jeff Kleinsmith and are currently available to stream on all streaming services.

For those unfamiliar, The Gits were a promising young Seattle band whose career was cut short when Gits vocalist Mia Zapata was raped and murdered in 1993. The band was expected to be the next band to break out of the Seattle scene and Zapata, with her powerful and fierce voice, was a generational talent.
